Dress Me

So I am on the hunt for a green dress for my halloween costume. I have only one day off (and by off I mean I don`t have to work until 4pm) between now and then to find it and I am having no luck! But in my travels I have found some cool things:

Sometimes A Girl Just Needs A Cupcake

Hey, I needed a cupcake. So I went to Susie`s Shortbreads and picked one up.
Besides being the cutest store, they make delicious cupcakes.

Cupcakes are a bit ridiculous when you realize you are spending $3 on one. But sometimes you just NEED some cake and you don`t exactly want to buy an entire cake, because then you will eat an entire cake and have a huge ass, so you spend $3 on one little cake.

I suggest Susie`s. Sweet Janes also has cupcakes, but be damned if I could find a price in store so eff that.
Check out their Twitter for updates on the cupcake mobile

Nocturne at night

I clearly meant to make a post about this ahead of time so you could like, actually remember to go to it, but I almost forgot about it myself. Luckily I live on a happenin' street and the noise drew me out of my bunker. So, Nocturne at Night was brilliant. I didn't get to see everything I wanted too, but what I did see was fantastic and made me really happy to live in this city.

What is Nocturne at Night? Here: Nocturne: Art at Night is a fall festival that brings art and energy to the streets of Halifax between 6 p.m.-midnight. This year’s event will take place on October 15. The completely free, fourth annual event showcases and celebrates the visual arts scene in Halifax. Nocturne, designed and planned by volunteers, is an opportunity for everyone to experience the art of Halifax in a whole new light. The Nocturne Program Guide provides details about exhibitions in galleries and public spaces throughout the city.

This was in the church down the block from me. The theme this year was something to do with senses (my issue was the lack of social media that could have been optimized for this event - I wanted a better twitter handle and a presence on four square so I knew where I was and where I was close too and what the wait time was etc. etc.) Anyways, in this church there was a guitar suspended from the ceiling and it made different sounds depending on the height it was suspended at. Creepy and great.

A massive light bright was the main attraction at the Argyle Gallery.

So I may be in love with glass blowers. Love.

These were awesome.

A Review: Split Crow Pub

I know I know, all these reviews! It makes me look like I eat out a lot, but my wallet says otherwise. Alright, so a few months ago I snagged a groupon for the Split Crow Pub. I have been hoarding it until my friend arrived for a visit so I could take her out on the cheap. I know, so classy. Anyways, we only had one day of sun before it literally rained and rained and rained for days while she was here. Luckily we got to have one last patio lunch before the rain and snow drive us indoors for the next six months. Sad times. I let the beverage dude talk me into getting a raspberry beer. Poor life choice. I do not like beer. At all. But about once a year I try to choke one down. I also got their lunch special of a veggie cheese burger. I give the burger a 2 out of 5. It was a soy patty, enough said. The fries though, the fries were the best. 5 out of 5 for sure. Will be back for the fries. Also they have really great specials

guess what? I still don't like beer.

Then we had to hit up Cows for dessert. I was pretty full so I went with the Strawberry Sorbet and it was amazing as per usual. I don't know what I will do without Cows in the winter.
PS: I did my  nails in the airport while waiting for a delayed flight.

A Review: Cora's

Shut your face this place is amazing! I have never heard of Cora's before and I am appalled that it has taken this long to be part of my life. I love breakfast; best food category hands down. The problem is that most breakfast involve eggs and meat; two of my least favourite things. And while there is plenty of that on the menu Cora's embraces the best part of breakfast: carbs and fruit. I went with the french toast with fresh fruit ($9.99) and it was perfect. So much fruit! Love it! It was delicious.

whoops, I was in such a rush to dig in it blurred!

it was tough work, but I ate it all... and didn't eat for the rest of the day haha
I can't wait to go again, and just may treat myself to breakfast there on Thanksgiving.

A Review: Jean's Restaurant

So I have been wanting Chinese food for a while now, but I have had no idea where to get it from. Ordering Chinese for the first time in a new city is always a gamble. Luckily yesterday I received a menu in my mail box from a place called Jean's Restaurant. I took it as a sign. I got a vegetarian egg roll, vegetarian shanghai noodles, and mixed vegetables.  Overall delicious. My only disappointment was the 'egg roll'. I say 'egg roll' because it was more like a giant spring roll.... made with cinnamon. Like, so much cinnamon? Weird.  But the noodles were nice and spicy and the veggies were delish.
