Apocalypse

Halifax has amazing street fashion. Everyone looks like they are prepared for the apocalypse. I have been here for three months and have ran through four, soon to be five, pairs of shoes. I now see why everyone wears boots and layers. I am currently down to my black boots, my rain boots, tattered flats and a pair of patent brogues, aka my 'going out flats'. Asos is currently offering free international shipping so I am looking at adding another pair of boots to my apocalypse collection.

You also need a raincoat. This coat should have: a hood, a high collar, rollable sleeves, and a breathable lining also, bonus if it covers your bum. An umbrella is really only good for a true downpour. Rainboots are an absolute must. I attribute two of my five shoe deaths to not having proper rain boots for the first month I was here.

DO NOT CHEAP OUT on any of these necessities. My rain jacket is the shit! I have worn it literally everyday since I have lived here. It cost $120 (and you know I got it on sale and used a coupon so it was only $60). My boots I got on sale at asos (they have every rain boot imaginable)  and they are Hunters. I did not get the traditional boot because they do not fit my calves. However, I love my short boots, they keep everything dry and are super cute. The umbrella I picked up at Bently, also on sale, for about $20. I have wanted a clear plastic, bubbly umbrella for an age and I was so excited to find this one! You really need to spend $$ on a good umbrella. Mine retails for $45 and it is totally worth it. Anything cheap is just a waste of money because you will be replacing it constantly.

my rainboots! and the bottom of my coat...

these bitches are from asos and were on sale for about $50.
