A big part of moving to someplace unknown is getting comfortable at night. The first two weeks I was not down with nighttime wanders; I did not know what was "safe" etc. These last few nights though I have been out and about. Tonight I did a lengthy wander of the waterfront (yes, I did a daytime wander of it last week, but I live right on it so where else am I supposed to go at night?) anyways, here are some tips:
1) Add a layer. I thought was was good with my raincoat and scarf. Nope. Bring mitts and/or a sweater.
2) Skip the lipgloss/wear your hair back. Serious. It was so windy and my hair was constantly stuck to my lips. I tried to wipe it off, but I was wearing that expensive Lancome stuff (christmas) and that shit does not come off!
3) Bring your own beverage. I got a cup of (lukewarm) coffee to warm me up and it twas not good.

optional Get an awesome camera. The photos I could have taken tonight were amazing. Sadly my camera was not up to the task. Balls

4) As with any wander, especially a night one, be aware of your surroundings. I had awesome jams on my ipod, but only wear one ear dudes. Also, when I got a little sketched out on my way back I moved up a few streets because they are busier and have good lighting. Let's use some common sense and not end up on
Bones.
